This detox smoothie recipe is aimed at detoxing the body from harmful pollutants and pestisides that we are all exposed to. You can have this nutricious drink every morning for a week to kick start your detox process.Heavy metal detox smoothie recipe

  • 1 small handful of Coriander
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 handful of greens
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 1 tsp Spirulina
  • 1 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 cup coconut water or water

Smoothie Health Tips
1. Bananas are a good source of iron, and can help prevent anemia. This fruit is classified as a “cold” food in chinese medicine, and supports the digestive process. They are also thought to strengthen the stomach lining and protect against acid and ulcers.  Banana’s are also high in potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C.

2. Corriander is a heavy metal chelator, meaning it will help to draw heavy metals out of the body. This herb is highly alkalising and will also helps the digestive process by supporting peristalsis and preventing bloating.

3. Greens contain minerals such as calcium and magnesium which can help support bone and dental health. Greens are also an excellent source of vitamin C.

4. Ginger is highly anti inflammatory and traditional medicine viewed ginger as a warming food. It was regularly prescribed for health conditions that were caused by coldness in the body, such as arthritis.

5. Spirulina is a blue-green coloured micro- algae that grows in warm, alkaline waters around the world. Spirulina produces 20 times more protein than soya beans. This algae supports the immune system and helps the body to absorb minerals.

6. Chia seeds are an excellent souce of omega 3 essential fatty acids. These seeds have a strong anti inflammatory action and support the digestive system.
