Healthy eating is a must for general health and anti-ageing. By just controlling your calorie intake and avoid junk food, you can dramatically reduce your risk of heart disease and diabetes. Luteolin Rich Foods Help Anti-Ageing

A study conducted at the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Illinois has discovered that a diet rich in the compound Luteolin reduces age-related inflammation in the brain and memory problems. Luteolin is reported to work by directly inhibiting the release of harmful inflammatory molecules in the brain. Luteolin rich foods are The researchers focused on microglial cells. These are specialised immune cells that live in the brain and spinal cord. These microglial cells are stimulated by infections to produce cytokines, which causes a cascade of chemical changes in the brain. The release of the inflammatory cytokines causes sleepiness, loss of appetite, memory problems and low mood. The researchers   found that inflammation in the brain appears to contribute to age related memory problems. They also discovered that the microglial cells become dysregulated and produce excessive levels of cytokines. This is thought to contribute to the ageing process and to neurological illnesses. This study is the first to suggest that Luteolin improves cognitivehealth by acting directly on the microglial cells to reduce the production of the inflammatory cytokines in the brain. Can eating berries can slow the ageing process

Scientists in America have reported evidence that eating blueberries, strawberries and acai berries may help the aging brain stay healthy in a crucial way. Previous research has suggested that one factor involved in aging is a progressive decline in the body’s ability to protect itself from inflammation and oxidative damage. This can lead to an exposure to illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and other age related conditions. This new study which was presented at the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS), found that berries and possibly walnuts can activate the brain’s natural mechanism of cleaning up and recycling toxic proteins that are associated with age-related memory loss. Shibu Poulose Ph.D, who presented the report, stated that natural compounds called polyphenolics, found in fruit, vegetables and nuts, have an anti-inflammatory action that may protect against aged related decline. Shibu Poulose Ph.D and the late James Joseph Ph.D , who headed the research, discovered that the polyphenolics found in berries have a rescuing effect. Their research also found that these compounds restore the functions of cells called Microglia.
